The sacraments are powers that come forth from the Body of Christ. Because they are also the actions of the Holy Spirit they are aptly called “the masterworks of God.” Therefore the whole spiritual life of Catholics revolves around these awesome gifts, which transform us into Christ. The power of the sacraments comes from Christ alone, independently from the personal holiness of celebrant or the recipient. However, the fruits of the sacraments in any individual also depend on the disposition of the one who receives them. As a result, St. Peter Parish takes great care in preparing the candidates who will receive the sacraments.
